Lucid Joins 'Made in Saudi' Program, Showcasing Commitment to Local Excellence, اليوم الثلاثاء 7 يناير 2025 08:26 مساءً
Lucid Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: LCID), maker of the world’s most advanced electric vehicles (EV), announced today its membership in the ‘Made in Saudi’ program. With Lucid’s in-country assembly of the award-winning Lucid Air and growing presence in Saudi Arabia, this affiliation grants Lucid the privilege to feature the Saudi Made logo, a symbol of excellence, authenticity and pride within the country.
This milestone reflects Lucid’s unwavering dedication to the Kingdom, demonstrated by the company’s strides in local workforce development with over 65 percent of roles filled by Saudi nationals, as well as its active participation in HRDF and NAVA educational and on-site training programs, and its leadership in sustainable automotive innovation. Lucid has also played a pivotal role in leading the country’s sustainable automotive innovation, underscored by Lucid’s manufacturing facility in King Abdullah Economic City. The facility, which recently celebrated its first anniversary in September 2024, features a semi knocked-down assembly operation center and is undergoing an expansion to include a completely-built-up assembly operation, marking a transformative step toward enhancing local production capabilities.
From his side, His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, emphasized that Lucid's inclusion in the ‘Made in Saudi’ program as the first automotive manufacturer to receive the ‘Saudi Made’ label reflects the strategic transformation underway in the Kingdom to establish a comprehensive ecosystem for electric vehicle manufacturing. This aligns with the goals of the National Industrial Strategy, which focuses on empowering promising sectors and attracting high-quality investments in advanced industries.
His Excellency explained that the Kingdom has now become a key destination for electric vehicle manufacturing, supported by modern infrastructure, incentive policies, and qualified human resources. He noted that the presence of major companies in the Saudi market, such as Lucid, enhances the Kingdom’s role as a global hub for future industries. This contributes to increasing local content, boosting non-oil exports, localizing industries, and transferring knowledge.
Al-Khorayef also highlighted that the industry and mineral resources ecosystem is committed to developing an investment environment that supports leading companies and enables them to contribute to achieving industrial transformation and innovation, which are at the heart of the Kingdom’s vision for a sustainable future rooted in modern technologies.
"We’re delighted to achieve Saudi Made membership and the right to use the Saudi Made logo – a true badge of honor – for our vehicles assembled right here in King Abdullah Economic City," said Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing Director Middle East at Lucid. "Lucid strives to embody everything Saudi Made stands for – quality and excellence; authenticity of identity and heritage; sustainability for the future; and a focus on striving for innovation. As Saudi Arabia focuses on expanding access to electric vehicles, Lucid aims to offer even more customers access to the world’s most advanced electric vehicle."
The Saudi Made program, an initiative led by the Saudi Export Development Authority (SAUDI EXPORTS) under the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program (NIDLP), aims to support local businesses by encouraging consumers to choose locally made products and assisting companies in increasing their exports to priority markets.
Lucid’s local presence extends beyond its manufacturing facility. The company operates two digitally oriented studios in Saudi Arabia, in addition to two service centers in Riyadh and Jeddah, providing customers with unparalleled access to Lucid’s cutting-edge EV technology.
Furthermore, Lucid’s partnerships with organizations such as the Public Investment Fund (PIF), King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), and the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company (EVIQ) are pivotal in advancing battery technology, adapting EVs to local conditions, and driving the development of fast-charging networks.
By sharing knowledge and expertise through these strategic collaborations, Lucid is not only advancing research and innovation but also actively contributing to the Kingdom’s economic diversification.
